چکیده

Cirrhosis with end stage liver disease is a leading cause of non-communicable related deaths in Sri Lanka. Liver transplantation remains the only curative treatment for such patients. Multi-organ dysfunction characteristic disease, surgical and anaesthetic factors, quality graft, coagulopathy haemodynamic instability, all lead to complexity perioperative care transplant. Aggressive management focused particularly on maintaining intra-operative stability optimizing haemostasis, directly impacts successful patient outcomes forms core strategy.

Recurrence of fatty liver disease following liver transplantation for NAFLD-related cirrhosis: Current status and challenges

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is emerging as a major health problem worldwide. NAFLD is a continuum of disease ranging from mild liver steatosis to severe steatohepatitis, which will ultimately lead to end-stage liver disease with high morbidity and mortality rates. This disorder is considered as a silent liver disease. The metabolic syndrome and its components are accounted as the ...

Lipolysis and lipid oxidation in cirrhosis and after liver transplantation.

On the basis of the finding that plasma glycerol concentration is not controlled by clearance in healthy humans, it has been proposed that elevated plasma free fatty acid (FFA) and glycerol concentrations in cirrhotic subjects are caused by accelerated lipolysis. This proposal has not been validated. We infused 10 volunteers, 10 cirrhotic subjects, and 10 patients after orthotopic liver transpl...

Described herein is the first reported case in the medical literature of systemic sarcoidosis developing after liver transplantation for PBC. The presented patient, who suffered from typical clinical, laboratory, and p...

Monitoring of Haemostasis during Liver Transplantation

When end stage liver disease occurs, liver transplantation is the only effective treatment available. In the past, liver transplantation was frequently accompanied by considerable bleeding complications and massive transfusion requirements, while only in recent years advances in operative management and a better understanding of the pathophysiology of coagulation have determined a better outcom...

The first eight patients died perioperatively or within two months, but four of the next seven patients had long survival; three are still alive after 11 to 14 years. After the introduction of cyclosporine therapy, 41 more patients with alcoholic cirrhosis were treated with liv...
